Hardy Dean Pitts, age 83, of Morganton passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born April 19, 1942 in Watauga County to the late Ernest Glen Pitts and Beulah Loudermelt Pitts. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Pitts and Archie Pitts; one sister, Ernestine Daniels; hunting buddy and dear friend, Ned May.

Mr. Pitts was a lifelong hunter and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed gardening, riding motorcycles, and swapping stories with friends and family.

Those left surviving include his wife of 59 years, Mariam Ford Pitts; one daughter, April Cline (Dale); one brother, Roger Pitts (Teresa); one sister, Glenda McNeil (Johnny); two granddaughters, Kaylen Ramsey and Reyna Ramsey; brother-in-law, Larry Daniels; hunting buddy and dear friend, Tony Herman; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Dennis Pitts and Rev. Danny Carr officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hartland Missionary Methodist, 2556 Piney Rd, Morganton, NC 28655.
