Obituary

Iris Cook Coffey, age 85 , went running to be at Jesus' feet Monday , August 26, 2024. She departed from Amorem Hospice quietly but the shouting and praising was going on in Heaven upon her arrival where the singing and praising will go on for an eternity with her Savoir, Jesus Christ.

Iris was born June 15, 1939  in Caldwell County to the late Robert F. Cook and Pauline Church Cook.

In addition to Jesus meeting her as she arrived in Heaven,  Her  parents met her there just across the Jordan River along with her loving Husband of 67 years, Rev. Raymond Coffey, her daughter, Donna Kaye and Son in Law, Michael Calloway; Sister: Louise Clark   Brothers: Charles, Dallas, Bobby and Kenneth Cook.

During her earthly time here, Iris was a mother to her children, a Pastor's wife and a homemaker who loved her extended family including those she served as a minister's wife. An avid Sunday School teacher of the Bible, one of her cherished activities was the John & Romans Ministry in which many hours were spent assembling the pamphlets that numbered in the hundreds of thousands causing untold people to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Greater yet was being called to be a ministers wife where she served at both Rock Creek Baptist Church and supported her husband in the establishment of Abington Road Baptist Church where they ministered nearly 25 years together with the members of those Churches. She was a current member at Sunrise Baptist Church where she loved and supported her church family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughter, Gail Calloway; two sisters, Peggy Wilkie and husband Wayne; Norma Alexander and husband Tony.

Three adored grandchildren, Jason Calloway, John David Hardin and wife Rebecca, Adam Calloway and his wife Meredith;

Five great-grandchildren, Brayden Powell, Andi Calloway, Hillary Hardin, Mallory Hardin, and Thatcher Calloway; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Friday, August 30, 2024 at Sunrise Baptist Church at  2:00pm conducted by Pastor Danny Wright, Adam Calloway and Rev. Floyd Perry, followed by a graveside service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Ed Warren.
