James “Dalton” Ball, age, 23, of Lenoir, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Dalton was born on December 26, 2002 in Caldwell County, NC to Helen Rose Engstrom and James Steven Ball.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Helen Coffey and step-father, Anthony Coffey; father, James Ball; mother of his child, Laci Houston; daughters, Vanessa Ball, Willow Houston, and Delilah Smith; brothers, Payton Ball, Ryan Marshall, Nick Wortman, Casey Clark, and Keith Powell; Pawpaw, Steve Ball; grandma, Tammy Shew; girlfriend, Kaydence Cole; close friends, Floyd Harmon and numerous others; friends from work; and numerous other loved ones.

Dalton was always smiling. He always had a kind word for anyone he came across, and he would help anyone who needed it. He will be remembered as a kind, loving, and giving person. He loved his daughter and his family with all his heart. He also enjoyed fishing. We hope Heaven has a big pond for all those catfish he’s going to be catching. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service to honor the life of Dalton Ball will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 2:00PM at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
