James Ray Marley, age 86, of Hudson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October, 15, 2024. He was born April 1, 1938 in Wilkes County to the late James Roy Marley and Virginia Hamby Marley. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Blackburn Marley; three brothers, Daniel Marley, John Allen Marley, and Horace Marley; one sister, Reba Anderson; and one son-in-law, Wayne Weaver.

Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Bill Marley (Connie) of Hudson; two daughters, Linda Weaver of Hickory, and Mary Teague (Ray) of Granite Falls; three brothers, Gene Marley (Mary) of Hickory. David Marley (Donnie) of Lenoir, and Ronnie Marley (Vickie) of Hudson; six beloved grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd A. Perry and Rev. Danny Wright officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Worship Point Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Cannon, Mike Marley, Chris Erskine, Chad Roberts, Joseph Cannon, and Bryan Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 172 N Main Street Parallel, Granite Falls, NC 28645.
