Janie L. White Correll "Mama Jane", age 96, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, November 17th, 2024 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson, North Carolina.

Janie was born on October 7th, 1928 in Surry County to the late James R. Livingston and Beatrice C. Livingston Minton Helms.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Rance Gene White, second husband, Stanley Nelson Correll; brothers, Paul Livingston and Jim Livingston; half-brother, William Minton; and sister, Marlene Suddreth.

Those left to cherish her memory include son, Stanley Nelson Correll Jr. of Lenoir; son of the heart, Yongki Yi (Sherri) of Lenoir; daughters, Pam Thomas (Johnson) of Lenoir and June Lucas (Jack) of Winston Salem; half-brothers, Charles Minton (Lorraine) and Jack Minton (Susie); brother-in-law, Harry Suddreth; sisters-in-law, Rachel Livingston and Pat Minton; grandchildren, Thomas Blake Thomas (Heather) of Maiden and Sara Kristen Thomas of Madrid, Spain; grandson of the heart, Xander Yi; great-grandchildren,  J.T. Thomas and Cooper Zaine Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews that were very special to her.

Janie was beloved by all who knew her. She never met a stranger and enjoyed everyone she met. She was married to Stanley Correll for 50 years, during which time she was a homemaker. Janie was very active at Greenway Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for over 50 years. She had a passion for making the church grounds beautiful with flowers and trees, but this was just one of her many talents. Janie was well known for her famous sourdough rolls and cakes. She had a green-thumb and grew the most beautiful roses as well as a vegetable garden that fed many. Janie was very proud of her family, her garden, and her flowers. Until her recent illness, she enjoyed life to the fullest every day. She will be dearly missed.

A graveside service to honor the life of Janie Correll will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Reverend Leah Epps officiating and Reverend Walter Lundy delivering a special message.

In lieu of donations the family requests that memorials be made in honor of Janie to Greenway Presbyterian Church's floral and outside beautification fund located at 415 Pennell St NE, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to the Shelter Home of Caldwell County located at 515 Scroggs St NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
