Jerry Michael Bentley, 58, went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, June 28, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most.

Born and raised in the Caldwell County town of Hudson, North Carolina, Jerry spent his life rooted in the place he called home. He was a proud and hardworking man who made his living as a career truck driver, known to many by his CB handles "The Kid" or "Carolina Kid."

Jerry had a deep love for anything that went fast—whether it was a dirt bike, motorcycle, or his dirt track car. In his younger days, he was often found racing or riding, always chasing the thrill with his signature grin. He also cherished time spent fishing, attending car shows, or just going for a long drive—so long as it was with the people he cared about.

Above all, Jerry was a family man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack Lane Bentley and Dovie Jane Crump Bentley.  He leaves behind two beloved daughters, Stephanie Bentley and Emily Bentley; a devoted sister, Paula Bowman, and her husband Michael Bowman; and nephews Chad Bowman (wife Emily Teague Bowman) and Jason Bowman (wife Krista Bowman). He is also remembered fondly by several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

Jerry was known for his honesty, his reliability, and his lighthearted spirit. He had a youthful heart and a knack for making people laugh. His presence brought comfort, and his laughter brought joy. His absence will be deeply felt.

A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of a traditional receiving, the family is planning a Celebration of Life, with details to be shared as arrangements are finalized.
