Jerry Russell Gantt, born March 6, 1945 in Watauga County to late Julie Dancey Gantt and Russell Ivy Gantt, passed peacefully in his sleep on February 14, 2025.

Jerry "Chub" was a loving Husband, Daddy, Pawpaw, and Great Pawpaw. A quiet, comforting presence, he could be found at his granddaughter, Elizabeth's, swim meets, camping, and always with a good story to tell.

He loved Carolina Basketball, Atlanta Braves games, reading westerns, and country music. His blue overalls and t-shirt along with his sweet, genuine smile were widely known and loved.

He worked for many years at Thomlinson's Plumbing and Heating.

As a Marine and Vietnam Veteran, he was proud of his grandson Noah, who is active duty in the Air Force.

Jerry was always willing to lend a hand and spending time with family was always his priority.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Tina Harmon.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Foster Gantt and his son, Donald James Gantt and spouse Anissa Austin Gantt. Two grandchildren, Elizabeth Gantt Annas and spouse Jeff Annas, Noah James Gantt and spouse Maddie Gantt. As well as one beloved great granddaughter, Charlotte Reese Annas, his "peanut". He is also survived by his siblings, Connie Miller and Jack Gantt, and special nephews, Mark Miller, Dwyane Miller, and David Gantt.

The family will be receiving visitors on Saturday February 22nd from 12pm-2pm at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home in Lenoir.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
