Jerry "Pete"
Keith Triplett
Nov 15, 1947 — Jun 17, 2025
Jerry "Pete" Keith Triplett, age 77, of Lenoir, passed away on June 17, 2025. He was born November 15, 1947 in Lenoir to the late Donald and Louise Triplett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 24 years, Janice Triplett, a brother, Wayne Triplett, and two sisters, Doris Barnhardt and Earlene Hoyle.
The youngest of seven children and small at birth, he was nicknamed Pete, after The Little Rascals, by his oldest brother and the name forever stuck. After graduating from Gamewell-Collettsville High School in 1968, Pete served in the US Army as a Specialist 4th Class from 1968 to 1974, and was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado. Upon deployment to Vietnam, he served as an Operations Intelligence Assistant and received the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze service stars. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hike, fish, hunt, and work in his vegetable garden. Preferring to always be outside, he could often be found tinkering on his 1968 Camaro or sitting in a chair on the patio enjoying music and a cold beer.
He is survived by his three children, Brandy Shaver (Ryan) of Mt. Pleasant, Chris Triplett of Lenoir, and Allyson Griffin (Kris) of Willow Spring; two grandchildren, Noah Shaver (Erin) and Dalton Shaver of Mt. Pleasant; and three siblings, Judy Forbes, Doug and Cecil Triplett.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be conducted and is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the Pisgah Conservancy at www.pisgahconservancy.org to honor his great love of nature.
