Mr. Jerry Edward Kirby, age 79, of Hudson passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at his home.

Born November 21, 1944 in Caldwell County, Jerry was a son of the late Jay G. and Ada Shoun Kirby.  Jerry was a loving and fun husband, father and grandfather.  He had a love for westerns and antiques.  Jerry never met a stranger.  Jerry was a retired electronics teacher from Hibriten High School.  He was a long time member of the Hudson Lions Club, a Hudson City Council Member and Charter member of Friendship Baptist Church.  Jerry was former President of the Electrical Contractors Association.  He is a former electrical teacher at Caldwell Community College.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Goble; and two brothers, Carroll and Ted Kirby.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ginger Warlick Kirby; two sons, Paul Kirby (wife Crystal) and Brian Kirby (wife Monica); his grandchildren, Jessica (husband Josh), Cecilia (husband Josh), Candace, Riley, Ethan and Logan; Jerry is also survived by six great grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

A memorial service celebrating Jerry's life will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Thursday, October 24 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jeff Stading and Pastor Lonnie Bell officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to Friendship Baptist Church at 4676 Horseshoe Bend Road, Hudson, NC  28638.
