Joan Hart Jessup, age 84, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

Joan was born on August 29, 1941 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late Jacob and Ruby Hart.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Jeanette Laney; half-brother, Randy Hart; and sister-in-law, Annie Hart.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Joyce Hartley of Hudson, North Carolina; brothers, Dale Hart of Georgia and Robert Hart (Linda) of Virginia; half-brother, David Hart; and numerous other family members and loved ones.

Joan was fun loving. She was very outspoken and generous. Joan was comical and overall just fun to be around. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service to honor the life of Joan Jessup will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Poovey’s Chapel Baptist Church at 2:00PM with Reverend Nicky Waters officiating.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at the church.

Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
