John Michael Byrd, age 62, of Granite Falls, North Carolina, went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

John was born on January 20, 1963 in Wilkes County, North Carolina, to the late John Franklin Byrd and Minnie Jean Russell Byrd.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandchild, Brian Owens.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Brenda Byrd; sons, Jonathan Byrd and wife Melanie, Timothy Byrd, and Tony Byrd and wife Kayla; brother, Jeffery Byrd and wife Melanie; sisters, Lisa Byrd Pilkinton and Karen Byrd; grandchildren, Kaylee Craig, Brianna Owens, Chelsie Owens, Bentlee Byrd, and Payton Byrd; and one great-grandchild on the way.

John loved his family dearly. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and pawpaw. He was a hard worker and liked to do art. He loved to go on family fishing trips, and to cook BBQ with his dad, brother, and sons. He especially loved to cook for his church. John loved his church and he loved his Lord. He was a devoted Christian who had regular Bible devotions with his wife, Brenda. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service to honor the life of John Byrd will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Poarch Chapel Missionary Methodist Church at 2:00PM with the Reverend Wallace Smith and Reverend Mike Spicer officiating.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at the church.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Byrd, Timmy Byrd, Tony Byrd, Alex Neal, Willie West, and Josh Baucom.
