John Joseph Roberson, age 89, of Lenoir passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at his residence. He was born May 15, 1934 in Rutherford County to the late John Lee Roberson and Reba Camp Roberson. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son, Dana Roberson.

Mr. Roberson was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia Sullivan Roberson, of the home; one sister-in-law, Georgie S. Lee of Lenoir; one nephew, Toby Lee (Melissa); two nieces, Jerri Lee-Craig (Alton) and Tammy Kincaid (Terry); and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Dula officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Toby Lee, Terry Kincaid, Alton Craig, Jeffery Oxendine, Micheal Oxendine, and Spencer Edmisten.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St NW, Lenoir, NC 28645, or Piney Grove Baptist Church, 2331 Piney Grove Cir, Lenoir, NC 28645.
