Rev. Johnny Carpenter, 91, of Vero Beach, Florida, and formerly of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on November 19, 2025, at Hospice House in Vero Beach.

Born on October 05, 1934, in Lenoir, North Carolina, Johnny was the son of the late Dan and Jennie Carpenter. After serving in the United States Air Force, he graduated from Berkshire Christian College in Lenox, Massachusetts, and was ordained as a pastor in the Advent Christian denomination. Over the course of his ministry, he faithfully served congregations in Massachusetts, Georgia, and North Carolina.

In addition to his pastoral work, Johnny earned a degree in elementary education from Appalachian State University and taught for many years within the North Carolina school system. His commitment to service continued into retirement when he became a bus driver for Christian Tours in Newton, North Carolina. He cherished the friendships and experiences he gained while traveling on numerous excursions.

Johnny was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joanne Moore Carpenter, as well as his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Denise Goble and son-in-law Tim as well as his sisters, Libby Diggs of Wadesboro, North Carolina, and Mavis Freeman and her husband Barney of Morganton, North Carolina.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home, beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
