Obituary

Jonathan Clyde Bryant, age 57, of Lenoir, was received into the arms of Jesus, on the morning of Tuesday, November 19, 2024, surrounded by his family. He truly loved his family and it showed in all that he did as a husband, dad, son, brother, and his new role as Pappaw.

Jonathan is survived by his wife, Kelly Bryant; his children, Hannah (Will) and Walker (Kloie) and grandson, Kaden; grandmother, Lorraine Key; and parents, Linda Key and Archie (Susan) Bryant. Sisters include Leah (David) Haas, and Jennifer Bryant; and brothers, Ian (Michelle) Bryant, and Quinn (Kendra) McGee. Other family members include sisters-in-law, Kathy (Brandon) Walker and Jamie (Jacob) Boggs. He had many nieces and nephews he dearly loved and they loved him. He was also welcomed into Heaven by many special loved ones who were thrilled about his arrival.

Jonathan was a walking encyclopedia in sharing his wealth of knowledge on any topic down to the intricate details. His love for knowledge inspired him to become a well-respected social studies teacher at Hibriten High School. It was his passion to teach future generations about historical events, especially World War II and the Holocaust. He lovingly earned the title of "the historian" by his department colleagues. He was a devoted reenactor of WWII events and the Civil War as a member of the 26th NCT from Caldwell County.

A receiving of family and friends will be held in the theater of Hibriten High School on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of life service conducted by Rev. Gary Barger and Rev. Sarah Fouts.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to historical preservation through 26NC at P.O. Box 41274, Greensboro, NC 27404; the Caldwell Heritage Museum, 112 Vaiden Street, Lenoir, NC; or Mt. Zion Methodist Church, 2745 Blue Creek Road, Lenoir, NC 28645 where he was a member.
