It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Judy Fonda Bolick McLean, age 74, of Rhodhiss passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Amorem of Valdese. She was born October 10, 1951 in Avery County to the late Fred Everette Bolick and Lois Baird Bolick. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by four brothers, Carroll Dean Bolick, Donald Clarence Bolick, Jack Everette Bolick, and James David Bolick; three sisters, Fredda Bell Bolick, Verla Delores Bolick, and Lucy Lorene Gray; and many nieces and nephews.
Judy was a lifelong member of Calvary Advent Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess for many years as well as a member of the Women’s Home Foreign Mission Society where she served as President and Vice President for many years.
Judy was a true woman of faith and didn’t hesitate to help anyone in need or pray for them. We will miss her silliness and her laughter. She always wanted to be a wife and mother and she did just that. She was memaw to Gabby, Lucy, Eleanor, Gabriel, Abigail, Ruthy, and John Michael whom she was very proud of and loved dearly.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 58 years, Gerald Dean McLean of the home; three sons, Ed, Chris, and Tony McLean all of the home; one sister, Rebecca J. Mitcham of Granite Falls; her caregiver and niece, Becki Bolick; and a host of many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Advent Christian Church with Rev. Jim Lee and Rev. Brandon Thomas officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.
