Julia Culbreth Mathias, age 79, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Julia was born on February 11, 1946 in Cumberland County, North Carolina to the late Ernest and Pearl Culbreth.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years whom she loved dearly, G. A. Mathias; brothers, Bynum Culbreth and Harry Culbreth; brother in law, Alfred Horne; sisters, Durema Culbreth, Margaret Horne, and Nancy Nemeth; sister in law Kathy Culbreth; and grandchild, Baby Jay.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Todd Mathias and Lucas Mathias (Linda); daughters, Michele Mathias (David) and Melissa Mathias; brother, David Culbreth (Martha); sisters, Katie Culbreth, Donna Owens (Pete), and Edith Culbreth (Wayne); grandchildren, Savannah, Geoffry, Madison, Landon, Gavin, Harley, Presleigh, and J.J; and numerous other friends and loved ones.

Julia had a loving heart. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, more than anything. She loved Elvis Presley and was a big fan of his. She enjoyed doing word searches as well as doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren. Julia was well loved by all who knew her and will be dearly and deeply missed.

A visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home to honor the life of Julia Mathias.
