Justin “Jay” Leeann Pennington, age 35, of Newton passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026. She was born September 1, 1991 in Catawba County to Pamela Coffey Pennington and the late James Keith Pennington. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Mabel Coffey; and her paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ruth Pennington.

Those left to cherish her memory in addition to her mother include her son, Leland James Pennington; one brother, Marcus James Pennington; two special nieces, Lilly and Jessica Huffman; her cat, Mercury; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with her uncle Danny Anderson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
