Kay Winkler Greene, 80, of Hudson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 9, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Kay was born on July 6, 1944 to Lawrence F. Winkler and Ruby K. Winkler of Lenoir, who preceded her in entry to heaven. She graduated from Happy Valley High School in 1962 and continued her education to earn her cosmetology license. She loved to do hair and continued to do so for many years. She also worked in the South Caldwell High School cafeteria for 9 years where she was loved by many students and other staff. Kay was an active member at First Baptist Church of Hudson and enjoyed her fellowship with her Sunday School class and others. She was an amazing wife and mother. Kay adored her husband, Jerry and her son, Adam. She was a second mother to her nieces and another grandmother to her great-nephews, whom she loved as if they were her own grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by her sister Elaine W. Church.

She leaves behind a loving husband of 59 years, Jerry L. Greene and son, Adam L. Greene of the home. Others left to cherish her memory are her siblings Gary Winkler (Janet) and Linda W. Gilbert (Steve) and nieces Melanie McRae, Heather Stavrakas (Mark), Michelle Piercy (Eddie) and great-nephews Jordan Cline and Tyler Cline.

Graveside service will be held at Sardis Cemetery at First Baptist Church of Hudson on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to either the nursery at First Baptist Church of Hudson or Amorem Hospice. A special thank you to the healthcare staff at UNC Healthcare and Amorem, in addition to Dr. Jared Keith and Dr. Amanda DuSablon for their exceedingly compassionate care for Kay and her family.
