Obituary

Dorothy Kay Bostian Walker went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 5th, 2026.

Kay was born in Caldwell County to the late Dewey Lee "DL" and Mozelle Kerley Bostian on July 4th, 1934. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1952. She soon married her late husband, Robert L. Walker, who was a serving U.S. Army soldier, in October of 1953.

Kay was a wonderful seamstress, who excelled at making curtains, pillowcases, valances, and other assorted window treatments. She and her mother, Mozelle, opened a upholstery shop that was housed in a former building her father built on family property, and named it the "Decor Shoppe." In addition, Kay also spent many years working for the U.S. Postal Service, serving in multiple surrounding counties. According to Kay however, her favorite job was being a mother to her four boys, Gregory, Monte, Marc and Zen. She also was a wonderful grandmother to her six grandchildren.

Kay was a lifelong faithful member of Hudson First Baptist Church where Kay was one of the longest tenured members. Whether it was preparing a meal, serving at Hudson First Baptist, or gardening at home, Kay was always busy at work. She is remembered for her kindness, her generosity, and her continual care for other members of the church.

Surviving family members include her sons, Gregory Walker of Lenoir, NC, Monte Walker and wife Pam, of Jacksonville, Florida, Marc Walker and wife Glenda of Denver, NC and Zen Walker of Hudson, NC. In addition are her grandchildren, Drew, Cody, Cassidy, Logan, Sasha, and Autumn and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jearl Bostian Carlton of Crossville, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Lee and Mozelle; and her husband, Robert Walker; and daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Walker.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Hudson First Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Hamby officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Sardis Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hudson First Baptist Church, 345 Main Street, Hudson, NC 28638.
