Kevin Allen Long, Jr., born Kevin Blake Clemmer, has recently passed away. He is survived by his parents, Kevin Long, Sr. (Amber Long) and Jane Long of Lenoir.
From the Lenoir and Hickory area he is survived by his sisters, Katelyn Long, Kathryn Long, and Madalyn Beaver; brothers, Alexander Long, Maverick Long, Salem Beaver, and Traceton Beaver.
Kevin enjoyed visits from his grandparents, Harry and Diane Long of Sheridan, Oregon. Kevin is also survived by two uncles and their families, Stuart Shook Jr. (Deborah), Angela Shook, Tim Long (Nicky), Nick, Tyler, Becca, and Max Long.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stuart Shook, Sr. and Wilma Shook.
Kevin graduated from Gateway School in 2025. He enjoyed fishing with his mom and friends and spent many hours over the years at local fishing holes; especially, Miss Nancy’s dock. He loved to play soccer like his dad, and he took great joy in participating in Scouting America alongside his father. Kevin was a very compassionate young man who cared greatly about his friends. He was loyal and was always quick to respond to a friend in need. His laughter was infectious; his feelings deep; and his love, once given, even deeper.
Kevin and his light, which could pierce the darkness, will be truly missed.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026 at Trinity Methodist Church on Seehorn St. NE in Lenoir. An informal visitation will take place from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. in the church Fellowship Hall with the service to follow in the sanctuary at 3:00 P.M. Pastor Dan Money and Pastor Sherry Hicks will be leading the service.
