Larry Ralph Harwood, age 82, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025.

Larry was born in Caldwell County to the late Ernest Harwood and Lois Berry Harwood on September 29, 1942.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Timothy Wayne Harwood; great grandson, Maddux Moore, brothers, Norman and Doug Harwood; and half-brothers, Clarence and W.D. Harwood.

Those left to cherish Larry's memory include his wife of many wonderful and beautiful years, Leslie Kiser Harwood; daughter, Kim McGlamery (Opie); grandchildren, Ben Harwood, Kali Harwood, Logan McGlamery (Morgan), Chelsey McGlamery Moore (Elliot); great grandchildren, Kohen McGlamery, Maycee Moore, Jaxon Moore, and Olivia Moore; sisters, Deanie Lingerfelt (Roy) and Glenda Harwood; beloved grand dog, Maggie; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was loved by all who knew him, and he was well known too. He loved to spend time at the college helping out with the auto body program, as it was the same program he attended in the past. He enjoyed drag racing, and he loved old cars and trucks. He spent many hours fixing and restoring those old cars and trucks. He was a meat cutter for many years, and he retired officially from the furniture industry. He had a sharp mind. He was very good with numbers and never forgot an important date. Larry never forgot a birthday, an anniversary, or a date that made someone's life special. Larry loved his family, especially a very special member of the family, Maggie- his grand dog. Larry never liked dogs in the house, but Maggie was the exception to the rule. He will be dearly missed.

A funeral service to honor the life of Larry Harwood will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 2:00pm at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Geoff Day officiating.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.
