Larry Gene Wakefield, age 70, of Lenoir, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

Larry was born on August 3, 1954 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late Rex and Dorothy Wakefield.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Wakefield and son, Preston Wakefield.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Donavon Wakefield (Shawna); brother, Lenny Wakefield (Carol); sister, Kathie Teseniar (Jeff); grandchildren, Landon Wakefield, Payton Wakefield, Aaliyah Cain, Lucas Cain, and Avery Wakefield; and friend of 43 years, Janice Phillips.

Larry had a great heart. He loved all animals, big or small. He also liked old muscle cars and car racing as well as country music. Larry loved football and coached little league football for many years. He will be greatly missed.

The family will receive visitors for one hour on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel.
