Obituary

Lola Watson Aiken, 83, of Lenoir, died on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in Hudson. She was born in Caldwell County on February 7, 1941 to the late Caroleen Suddreth Watson and Carson Watson.

In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Barry E. Aiken; brothers, Larry Watson and Michael (Mike) Watson; and sister Cathy W. Paul.

Lola is survived by her sons, Chris Aiken and wife Janet of Hudson and Dereick (Dinky) Aiken of Lenoir; grandchildren, Ethan Aiken and wife Amanda of Lenoir and Emily Aiken of Hudson; great-grandchildren, Josiah Aiken and Amelia Aiken; her brother, Edward (Eddie) Watson and wife Paula of N. Fort Myers, Florida; her sisters, Joann W. Lutz and husband Melvin of Boiling Springs, Carla W. Hampton of Lenoir, Phyllis W. Nellis of Taylorsville, Deborah (Debbie) W. Ammons and husband Glenn of Taylorsville, Elaine W. Woodruff of Taylorsville, Carol W. Worthen of Granite Falls, and Beverly W. Shook and husband Steve if Lenoir; multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her little dog, Honey.

Being the oldest of twelve children, she loved spending time with family. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and playing Bingo. She was a retired upholsterer sewer, florist, and operator of Ollie's Restaurant. Lola was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend whose presence will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank those who have called, messages, visited, and prayed for them in this time of need. They would like to especially thank the caring staff at Shaire
Nursing Center, UNC Health Caldwell, and Amorem of Hudson.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm with funeral services celebrating her life at 2:00pm in Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mack Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caldwell Memorial Hospital Foundation.
