Mrs. Lorene Greer Bentley, 71, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026.

Born on September 1, 1954, Lorene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She dedicated more than 30 years of service as secretary with Lenoir Building Supply, where she was respected for her hard work, dedication, and kindness.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Ivey Suddreth and Beulah Greer Suddreth.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Bentley of the home. Together, they shared 54 years of marriage filled with love and devotion. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Buchanan; her son, Chad Bentley and wife, Elaine; and her daughter, Courtney Wilson and husband, Jeff. Lorene was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren and a great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jessica Bowman, Katie Joplin, and Evelyn of Caldwell County Amorem Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided during Lorene's illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Amorem Hospice of Caldwell County.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Lorene's life will begin at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastors Eric Thomas and Robert Livingston.

Burial will immediately follow at Lower Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Bentley, Cole Bentley, Rex Stokes, Gary Teague, Regan Sanders, and Randy Dula.

Lorene will be remembered for her steadfast love for her family, her faithful spirit, and the kindness she extended to all who knew her. Her memory will be treasured and carried forward by those whose lives she touched.
