Lowell "Doug" Ernest Harwood, age 71, of Lenoir passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at Autumn Care of Drexel. He was born January 2, 1953 in Caldwell County to the late Ernest Harwood and Lois Berry Harwood. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence Harwood, Norman Harwood, and William Harwood; and one nephew, Tim Harwood.

Doug along with his brothers Larry and Norman were avid racing fans and rotated as driver for the Harwood Brothers Racing Team at Hudson Drag Strip.

Those left to cherish his memory include one brother, Larry Harwood (Leslie), of Lenoir; two sisters, Glenda Harwood and Willa Dean Lingerfelt (Roy), all of Lenoir; one son, Gary "JR" Benjamin Adams, Jr., of Lenoir; two daughters, Catina Moore (Bobby) and Tonya Enloe (Scott), all of Lenoir; mother of children, Reba Baldwin; grandchildren, Kyle, Taylor, Jordan, Aaron, and Dace; numerous nieces and nephews; and cousin, Horace Harwood (Dorothy).

A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at Hibriten Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Cox and Rev. Tim Bentley.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hibriten Baptist Church, 312 Hibriten Mountain Rd, Lenoir, NC 28645.
