Margaret Bradshaw Benfield, age 86, of Hudson, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. She was born November 21, 1926 in Caldwell County to the late Rev. Masten Bradshaw and Effie Elrod Bradshaw. Margaret was the youngest and last surviving of eleven children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H.S. Benfield, Jr.; six sisters, Christine Bradshaw, Ola Cloer, Ruby Crump, Lona Belle Clark, Anna Griffin and Charlotte Statin and four brothers, Stewart, Lonnie, Edgar and Rodney Bradshaw. Mrs. Benfield began her professional career with Broyhill Furniture, Inc. working in the Main Office for thirteen years. From there she worked as secretary for First Baptist Church of Hudson retiring in 1991 with thirty two years of service. After retirement she worked part time at Blue Ridge Baptist Church, Hudson and also at Philadelphia Lutheran Church, Granite Falls. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hudson conducted by Dr. Wade Dellinger. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jeff Bradshaw, Brian Clark, Barry Cloer, Masten Cloer, Terrell Adkins and Rusty Reid.
