Margaret Anne (Simmons) Farthing

Margaret Anne (Simmons) Farthing, age 74, of Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on her birthday, October 20, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born in Lenoir on October 20, 1952, Margaret was the cherished daughter of the late Zollie Grant and Ruby Fay (Phillips) Simmons. A lifelong resident of Lenoir, she spent her life rooted in the community and surrounded by those she loved most.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J. Michael Farthing, who passed away in 2010; her brother, John Simmons; her sister, Janet Bowers; and her great-grandson, Joshua Cannon.

She is survived by her loving children: Michael Shawn Farthing (Kimberly), Anthony Farthing, and stepson Stanley Farthing. She leaves behind her sister, Ida Mae Douglas.

Margaret’s legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren: Makayla Farthing (Rachel), Kendra Cannon (Jeremy), Abby Murphy (Brandon), Megan Farthing, Zachary Greeson, Caleb Evans (Chelsea), Chase Farthing, Codey Farthing (Hannah), Ryleigh Farthing, and Madelyn Farthing.

She was also blessed with nine surviving great-grandchildren: Jeremy Walsh, Kaidence Cannon, Jasper Cannon, Kaisley Cannon, Kayla Cannon, Finley Helton, Everly Farthing, Makinley Evans, and Carson Evans.

In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. Family and friends are encouraged to cherish their memories of Margaret and celebrate her life in their own special way.
