It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Ann Mack, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Margaret left this world on August 11th, 2024, in Lenoir, NC, at the age of 81.

Margaret was born in Fulton, NY, on May 18th, 1943, to Charles and Harriet (Allen) Sturgis. She grew up in a loving family alongside her siblings and was known for her kind heart and gentle spirit from a young age.

Margaret's life journey led her to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1985, a role in which she dispensed not only medical care but also endless compassion and warmth. Her career was marked by the dedication and empathy she showed to her patients, embodying the true spirit of nursing.

Margaret enjoyed attending mass at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she found solace and community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was also a member of the Dempster Grove Campground, where she crafted many fond memories with friends and loved ones.

Margaret had a zest for life that manifested in her hobbies and interests. She relished the thrill of playing bingo, the tranquility of reading and fishing, and the satisfaction of completing fill-in books. These simple pleasures brought her immense joy and were a testament to her lively spirit.

Margaret's family was the center of her world. She was preceded in death by her son, John Mack; her husband, William Patrick Mack; her brothers, Pete and David Sturgis; and her sisters, Mary Joice, Martha Becker, and Christine Sturgis. Though she faced these significant losses, she remained a pillar of strength and love for those who survived her.

She is survived by her sons, David (Ruth) Sturgis of Cicero, NY and Timothy (Louann) Mack of Hiram, OH; and her beloved daughter, Annmarie Jones of Lenoir, NC. Margaret cherished her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride into her life. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember her with great affection.

Margaret's life was a tapestry rich with love, laughter, and resilience. Known for her character, Margaret was a blend of loving warmth and sassy humor. She had a way of making everyone feel special and was renowned for her quick wit and infectious laughter. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and generosity. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the legacy she leaves behind.

A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Dempster Grove Campground, 1124 NY-104B, Oswego, NY 13126, at 4:00pm (Tabernacle).

There will be a potluck style reception to follow (Dining Hall).  Colors encouraged.
