Marlene Hendrix Summerlin, age 79, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. She was born August 7, 1944 in Wilkes County to the late Donley Hendrix and Pearl Simmons Hendrix. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, James D. Summerlin; one brother, Glenn Hendrix; and one sister, Clairece Dula.

Mrs. Summerlin enjoyed crafting, cooking, and especially loved painting. She will be remembered for the unwavering love and devotion she had for her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons; Jeffrey Summerlin and Chuck Summerlin and wife Penny all of Lenoir; one brother, Ed Hendrix and wife Nanlee of Lenoir; two sisters, Shirley Adams of Lenoir, and Stella Scott of Hiddenite; the special joys of her life her two granddaughters, Charity and Megan Summerlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at 2:00 P.M Shiloh Community Cemetery conducted by Rev. Brent Dula.

Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Laws, Reginald Ford, Ronnie Lingerfelt, Bobby Sparks, George Durfor, and Dalton Ford.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Shiloh Community Cemetery Fund, 2585 Poor Boy Place, Lenoir, NC 28645.
