Martha Haigler Hamby, age 90, of Lenoir, North Carolina went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Martha was born on February 18, 1934 to the late Walter Haigler and Mary Goble Haigler in Caldwell County, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Wayburn Hamby and sisters; Dorothy Stewart, Frances Craig, Barbara Bowman, Juanita Laws, and Ann Welborn.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her daughter, Rita Triplett and husband Scott; brothers, Walter Haigler and wife Mavis and James Haigler and wife Brenda; sister, Patricia Kirby; grandchildren, Mackenzie Yount and husband Jamie and Trace Triplett and wife Kayla; great-grandchild, Jaxon Yount; and great-grandchild on the way, Wayburn Dean Triplett; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend many thanks to the Shaire Center and Amorem staff who cared for Martha for 4 years.

Martha was a member of Yadkin Baptist Church. If you went to the Patterson Post Office then there was a good chance you would see Martha there. She was known for her crochet skills, particularly making baby dresses and for being one of the best seamstresses in the valley. Martha was very involved in her church. She helped with Bible School and with Sunday school. Martha was a fixture of her community, who loved her Lord, loved her family, and loved her community.

A funeral service to honor the life of Martha Hamby will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 2pm at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim Hamby officiating.

The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service from 1pm until 2pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial be made to Yadkin Baptist Church at PO Box 37, Patterson, NC 28661 located on 2044 Roby Martin Rd, Lenoir, NC 28645.
