Mary Ann Clayton Carr, age 84, of Lenoir went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 in Gaston County, NC at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born September 19, 1942 in Keener, Alabama to the late Paul “Bud” Edgar Clayton and Louise Emery Clayton. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Don” Donald Carr; one brother, Daniel Clayton; one grandson, Landon Hanahan; and one great-granddaughter, Johanna Carswell.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Alan Carr and wife Joan of Lenoir, and Donald “Don” Carr and wife Liz of Chesterville, OH; one brother, Carl Clayton and wife Benny of Collinsville, AL; three sisters, Nancy Cagle of Albertville, AL, Glenda Cagle and husband James of Collinsville, AL, and Deborah Barker and husband Dr. Mike Barker of Boaz, AL; one sister-in-law, Rebecca Clayton of Collinsville, AL; two grandchildren, Jesse Carr and wife Amy of Hendersonville, and Nikki Hudson and husband Dillon of Morganton; four great-grandchildren, Clayton Carswell, Charlee Carswell, Cilla Carr, and Asa Carr; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service for the family will be held at a later date in Alabama.
