Mary Barnett Bowen, 73, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024 following a period of declining health.

Mary was born on July 9, 1951 in Caldwell County to the late James Franklin Barnett and Lucille Ballew Barnett. Mary loved painting, reading all sorts of books, playing cards and taking long rides in the countryside.  She was also an avid dog lover and could be found with her dogs "Baby" and "Pippy" in the backseat of her car on many of her trips to town.  Last but not least, Mary was a devoted and caring mother who wanted nothing but great things her two sons.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Benny Lane Bowen II and Jason Alan Bowen (Sarah Michelle Bowen); her three grandchildren Raymond Ryder Bowen, Aurelia Elise Bowen and Tucker Alan Knox Bowen and her brother, Buford William Barnett.

You will be missed but not forgotten.

The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.

In Lieu of gifts or flowers to the family, please volunteer or donate to your local Humane Society to aid in the care and adoption of animals in need.
