Mary Helen Day, age 88, of Hickory, NC passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in her home.

Helen was born to the late Hillary and Alice Gragg Hartley in Watauga County on June 1, 1935.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Hubert Day Sr.; brothers, Steve Hartley, Paul Hartley, and Claude Gragg and sister, Marrietta Woodruff.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Hubert Day Jr (Martha) and Charles Day (Nancy); sisters, Ruby Clark and Vivian McCarthy; grandchildren, Allison Day Triplett, Stephanie Day Helton, and Tania Briones Agraz; great-grandchildren Trevor Jeremy Helton, Trey Michael Helton, Ava Mary Triplett, Luna Serna Briones, and Carlo Serna Briones.

Helen was a devout Christian who loved her family with all her heart. She was a homemaker and loved going to the farmer's market and canning. Helen also had a love for animals.

A private service honoring Mary Helen Day will be held at a later date.
