Mary Maxine Harshaw aged 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday June 11, 2025, to be with the Lord.

Maxine was born on June 13, 1929, in Thomasville NC to the late Willie Tuttle and Dorothy Lee Davis Tuttle.  Maxine was a dedicated pastor's wife and was the former first lady at Dula Chapel Baptist Church in Lenoir NC and a former first lady at Union Grove Baptist Church in Wilkesboro NC.

Maxine is survived by her loving daughter Drewann Harshaw, stepson Paul Francis Dula and his children and grandchildren, and her (baby) Durand Avon Harshaw her grandson.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years Rev. Andrew Harshaw, her son Tony Nathan Harshaw, her parents, and her loving best friend of many years Billie Patterson.

Maxine will be remembered for her love of God and her love of hearing good preaching and singing.  She was a wonderful help mate and companion to her husband while he traveled and preached the word of God.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and was always willing to help and do the Lord's work.  She loved music and her favorite artist was Sam Cooke.  Her loving kindness and warmth touched everyone she met.

The celebration of life for Maxine Harshaw will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Harpers Chapel United Methodist Church at 351 N Fairview Dr, Lenoir, NC.  The receiving will be from 1:00 – 2:00, before the service.
