Mavis Ford Story, age 87, of Taylorsville passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 5, 1937 in Watauga County to the late Ralph Ford and Mary Helen Young Ford. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne A. Story; one son, Nelson Guy Story; and ten siblings.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Ronald Story (Darlene) and Ray Douglas Story (Melody); two daughters, Ann Whisnant (Billy) and Helen Edmisten (Chris); six sisters, Sally Taylor, Marie Jones, Sylvia Burns (Ronnie), Christine Moretz, Charlotte Isaacs, and Mariam Pitts (Dean); five grandchildren, Kevin Story (Suda), Preston Story (Brandy), Jennifer Clark (Charlie), Brittany Houston (Zack), and Bryson Edmisten; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Church, Rev. Adam Calloway, and Rev. Travis Triplett officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Story, Preston Story, Bryson Edmisten, Zack Houston, Ethan Story, and Charlie Clark. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mason Story, Alex Story, Chris Edmisten, and Billy Whisnant.
