Melvin Wilson Tucker, age 93, of Lenoir, passed away September 29, 2023 at Lenoir Healthcare.  He was born August 24, 1930, in Cape Canaveral, Florida to the late William A. and Helen W. Tucker.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Nancy S. Tucker; his daughter Patti K. King; granddaughter, Stephanie Greene; and, great-great granddaughter, Madilynn Upton.

Mr. Tucker graduated from Cocoa High School in 1948 after which he proudly served as a medic in the U.S. Army.  He then became a lineman with BellSouth and retired as a manager after thirty-five years of service.  He was an avid hunter, having started hunting as a child with his parents in Florida.  He loved watching baseball and was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros.

Mr. Tucker was a longtime member of Hudson First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Greene (Tony) and Shawn Brown (Michael); four sons, Melvin Kincaid, Michael Tucker (Pamela), Patrick Tucker, and Melvin W. "Tuck" Tucker, Jr. (Tana); two brothers, Kelvin Tucker of Woodbine, Georgia and Vernon Tucker (Gena) of Ocala, Florida; and one brother-in-law, Bob Sullivan (Donna) of Cocoa, Florida.  In addition, he is survived by seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and, nine great-great grandchildren.

The family will have a private graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Reverend Chad Baldwin. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Tucker, Christopher Tucker, Patrick Tucker, Melvin "Tuck" Tucker, Terrence Tucker, Michael Brown and Tony Greene.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Amorem Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Avenue NW, Lenoir, North Carolina 28645.
