Mildred Alice
Smith Camp
Nov 1, 1923 — Dec 16, 2025
On November 1, 1923, the world became a better place because Mildred Alice Smith Camp, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother entered this world.
Mildred was born in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late Charles Roby Smith and Cora Elizabeth "Lizzy" Hoyle Smith.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert Jackson Camp; son, Billy Camp; son-in-law, Jim Watson; brothers, Eugene "Gene" Smith, Lester Smith, and Cecil Smith; sisters, Viola Triplett, Pauline Nelson, Margie Wilson, and Lucille Chester; and great grandchildren, R.J. Camp, Jacob Camp, and Noah Camp.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Mike Camp and wife Alice; daughter, Barbara Watson; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a loving woman. She had a big heart and was a mother to many. She helped raise her siblings. As much love as she gave, she received just as much back from all who knew her. To know her was to love her. Mildred was a natural caregiver. She worked at Caldwell Memorial Hospital caring for the babies in the nursery.
At the remarkable age of 102 years old, Mildred saw and experienced many historical events. She fondly recalled walking to the movie theater to watch the premier of Gone with the Wind. Mildred was a master of all crafts. She taught ceramics classes as well for CCC&TI. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
