It is with great sadness that the family of Ottis Brown Hightower announces his passing on Sunday, May 31st, 2026. Three years after the passing of his beloved wife, Alice.
Ottis was born on February 3, 1940 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late William and Lela Hightower.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Hightower; brothers, Clyde Hightower, Bill Hightower, Jim Hightower, Paul Hightower, and Johnny Hightower; and sister, Norma Jean Carter.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, James "Chris" Hightower; daughter, Susan H. Cook; brother, Joe W. Hightower; grandchildren, Michele Mizen, Ashley Cook, Garrett Cook, and Joie Shelton; and great grandchildren, Zoey Mizen, Kellan Mizen, and Freya Shelton.
Ottis was a devoted father and husband. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard, where he attained the rank of Corporal while demonstrating remarkable service and dedication. Ottis had a passion for golf that was matched only by the value he placed on the friendships he made through the sport.
He will be deeply missed by his family, church family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. The family finds solace in the fact that Ottis is no longer suffering and has been reunited with his wife.
A graveside service to honor the life of Ottis Hightower will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 2:00PM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Reverend Manny Elswick officiating.
