Paul Vernon Moore, age 82, of Boone passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation. He was born May 14, 1944 in Caldwell County to the late Thomas R. Moore, Sr. and Hattie Bradshaw. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, James D. Moore, Thomas R. Moore, Jr., and Samuel S. Moore; and one sister, Harriet Marie Bowman.

Mr. Moore was a graduate of Gamewell High School class of 1962 and Caldwell Technical Institution in 1969 gaining his Diploma in Mechanical Drafting. He loved being outdoors especially near the Blue Ridge Parkway, going hiking and exploring water falls.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Jaime Moore Lane (Chris); two brothers, Claude Moore (Gay) and Billy Moore (Nina); four sisters, Dorothy Laws, Emily Hightower, Lucy Buchanan, and Yvonne Jones; three grandchildren, Kimberly Lane, Katelyn Lane, and Caleb Lane; one great-grandchild, Peyton Lane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services to honor the life of Mr. Moore will be held Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
