Throneburg
Sep 21, 1951 — May 27, 2023
Granite Falls
Peggy Baker Throneburg, age 71, of the Baton Community, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 22, 1951 in Caldwell County to the late Earl and Shirley Craig Baker.
Peggy was a caring, compassionate person with a big personality who was always smiling. She fulfilled her childhood dream by teaching at Baton Elementary for 32.5 years, as well as teaching at church through the Children's Story, Bible school, Sunday School, and serving as youth leader. In spite of a chronic illness, she loved and encouraged thousands of students by preparing them for life using academics, empathy, and humor.
Peggy was a dedicated wife and loving mother who led by example while displaying strength and resilience. Always a teacher, she planned many family vacations, and activities that were not only fun but educational. Peggy loved to travel, spend time with family, and make people laugh. She was kind and focused on helping others through volunteering and donations. Never meeting a stranger, Peggy would talk to and help anyone. She loved catching up with friends, former students, and family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 46 years, John Throneburg, of the home; one son, Casey Throneburg of Charlotte; one daughter, Jenna Throneburg of Charlotte; and numerous cousins, extended family, and beloved friends.
