Perry Dale Waugh was born on January 7, 1944 in Alexander County, NC to the late John Perry Waugh and Lois Fulbright Waugh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Michael Waugh and granddaughter, Georgia Waugh.
Dale graduated from Celeste Henkle High School where he was a bus driver.
He and his wife spent several years visiting other states participating in National Square Dance conventions. They made many friends while members of Foothills Squares in Lenoir.
Dale loved hunting, fishing, going to the beach, and just spending time with family and friends.
Dale retired from Rock Tenn in Conover (formerly known as Gulf State Paper Company), as a long distance truck driver, having received trophies for two million miles of safe driving.
Dale was a member of Marvin Methodist Church in Stony Point, where he was at one time the Sunday School Superintendent.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 46 years, Birdell Carver Waugh of the home; son, Rodney Dale Waugh (partner Teresa Ebright of Mocksville); granddaughters, Bailea Rose Waugh, Kylie Marissa Waugh (fiancée Owen Burrow) of Hickory; great-granddaughter, Makayle Ann Wilson; brother, Terry Lynn Waugh (wife Donna) of Stony Point; sister-in-law, Susan Waugh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home in Lenoir, NC on Thursday, November 2nd from 1:00-2:00PM.
The body will then be taken to the Old Union Cemetery at Marvin Methodist Church in Stony Point for a graveside service at 3:30PM.
Preachers officiating will be Pastor Jerry Rogers and Pastor Jeff Carson, along with his friend and first cousin, Charles Doss. Kendrick Childers of Stony Point will provide the music.
Pallbearers are Jalon Tate, Kameron Carver, Howard Dagenhart, John Waugh, Joe Ladd, and Dale Sherill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Marvin Methodist Church in care of Gail Dagenhart, 221 Rosenton Drive Stony Point, NC 28678.
