Phyllis Melton Earp, age 74, of Happy Valley, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2025.

Phyllis was born on March 7, 1950 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late John and Arletha Melton.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Julius Dwight Earp Jr.; brothers, Raymond Melton, and JC Melton; sisters, Loretta Hartley, Betty Richards, Dot Whisnant, and Eugena Melton; and grandchildren, Matthew Church, Tiffany Earp, and Justin Hamby.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Chris Church (Wendi); daughters, Marsha Benge, Jennifer Tolbert (Greg), and Amy Coffey; brother, Kenneth Melton (Lynda); grandchildren, Seth Church, Kalee Church, Micah Church, Michael Griffin (Cory), Jace Griffin, Justin Griffin, Kristen Tolbert, and Megan Hicks (Billy); great grandchild, Edith Laney; beloved pet, Lady; and grand-cat, Rusty.

Phyllis worked at Dot's Café (the best place to get a bacon cheeseburger in Caldwell County) and was well known there. She was also well known in the valley, where she made her home with her family. Phyllis loved to talk, and she loved her family. She will be dearly missed.

A funeral service to honor the life of Phyllis Earp will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home at 2pm.

The family will receive visitors from 1pm until 2pm at the funeral home.

Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Seth Church, Bryan Melton, Lance Melton, Garrett Morris, Mike Enloe, and Greg Tolbert.
