Pink "Pg"
Grant Lackey
Feb 4, 1948 — Apr 17, 2026
Lenoir
Pink Grant "PG" Lackey, born February 4, 1948, passed away on April 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, deep love, and unwavering character. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, PG served his country with honor and carried that same sense of duty and discipline throughout his life.
PG dedicated 40 years of hard work and commitment to American & Efird, where he built not only a career but a reputation for reliability and integrity. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, his words carried weight—filled with wit, wisdom, and truth that those around him came to respect and cherish.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Lackey, and his grandson, Isaac Lackey, both of whom he loved deeply and carried in his heart always.
PG is survived by his son, Eric Lackey and wife Sherra; his cherished grandchildren, Miles and Lily Lackey; his great-grandson, Colter Lackey; his Aunt, Barbara Starr and her son, Grant; and his lifelong friends, Dennis and Monica Eller and Peggy Jenkins. His family was the center of his world, and he found his greatest joy in spending time with them—especially his grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into his life.
When he wasn't with family, PG found peace and renewal in riding his motorcycle, often taking to the scenic stretches of the Blue Ridge Parkway to "charge the battery." Those rides reflected who he was—steady, thoughtful, and quietly appreciative of life's simple, beautiful moments.
PG will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and giving soul. His presence was steady, his love was constant, and his wisdom will continue to guide those who knew and loved him. His life was a testament to the power of humility, strength, and devotion to family.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A service to celebrate PG's life will be held at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church on Friday, April 24, 2026. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. -1:00 P.M. at the church.
