Rachel Bollinger Garnes Watson, age 89, of Taylorsville passed away Friday, September 4, 2026 at Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 9, 1936 in Caldwell County to the late William H. Bollinger and Virginia Hatley Bollinger. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Ed Garnes; second husband, Herbert Watson; two children, Richard H. Garnes and Betty Garnes Wilcox; one brother, Jay Bollinger; and one sister, Susie Bollinger.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Steve Garnes (Denise) and Ronnie Garnes (Nancy); one son-in-law, Dennis Wilcox; one brother, William Bollinger, Jr. (Estelita); two sisters, Carolyn Teague, and Jean Sheppard (Wilmar); numerous nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Ross officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
