Richard Michael Barnhardt, Sr., age 73, of Lenoir, died Sunday, April 21, 2024, at UNC Health Blue Ridge – Morganton.

Mr. Barnhardt was born August 17, 1950, in Cabarrus County, son of the late Bert Rodney Barnhardt, Sr. and the late Virginia Christine Thomas Barnhardt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Richard Michael Barnhardt, Jr. and brother, Bert Rodney Barnhardt, Jr.

Rick worked many years as a carpenter and contractor, later teaching those skills to students at Central Cabarrus High School, Hickory Ridge High School, and North Stanly High School from where he retired.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Phillips Barnhardt; daughter, Lori Good (Ken); daughter-in-law, Kim Barnhardt; stepdaughter, Kendra McGee (Quinn); grandchildren, Christopher Hudson (Candice), Caleb Barnhardt (Cassidy), Hannah Barnhardt, Dr. Sarah Barnhardt, Bekah Efird (Matt), and Kenneth Good, Michaella Good; step-grandchildren, Kerrigan McGee and Callen McGee; great-grandchildren, Hayden Hudson, Paisley-Ann Hudson, and Montana Hudson; and sisters, Janice Davidson and Anne Bybee.  He is also survived by four brothers-in-law, one aunt, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord with the funeral service immediately following in the chapel. Pastor Brian Davis will officiate.

A memorial service will be held in Lenoir on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Indian Hills Baptist Church where Rick attended, with Pastor Brian Davis officiating.
