Richard James
Bradshaw
Sep 24, 1946 — May 9, 2025
Lenoir
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard James Bradshaw, who departed this life peacefully at home on May 9, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 78 years old.
Born on September 24, 1946, Richard lived a life marked by faith, love for his family, and an unmatched zest for living. He truly loved life more than most.
Richard loved God, his family, and the outdoors, especially the time he spent on the lake fishing. He was a man who spoke his mind honestly and directly, you always knew where you stood with Richard. That trait defined him: you either loved him for it or didn't, but there was never a doubt about his sincerity or his heart.
A master carpenter by trade, Richard took immense pride in his work. His craftsmanship was a reflection of who he was—steady, honest, and built to last. His legacy lives on not only in the structures he built, but in the lives he touched.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Faye Bradshaw, and his sister, Martha Bradshaw. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Bradshaw, who stood by his side with strength and grace throughout his illness.
He leaves behind his devoted daughter, Nicole Harris (husband Melvin); stepdaughters Marla Fields (husband Mike) and Gina Travis (husband Allen, deceased); and stepson Tim Sanders (wife Jeana, deceased).
Richard was a proud and loving grandfather to Nicolas Tessener, Alex Sanders, Hunter Harris, Taylor Sanders Harris (husband Jordan), Laney Travis, and Avery Travis. He also leaves behind his brothers, Garry Bradshaw (wife Lola) and Douglas Bradshaw (wife Suzette), along with nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends who will miss his wit, his wisdom, and his unwavering presence.
A service to celebrate Richard's life may be held at a later date and will be announced via social media. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join in honoring a man who lived with passion, loved deeply, and never stopped fighting.
Though he is no longer with us, Richard's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
