Richard "Dennis" Pressley, 81, went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 9, 2024 after a period of declining health.
Dennis was the youngest son of Clarence Pressley and Geneva Corn Pressley and was born on October 27, 1942 in Brevard, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Larry Pressley of Hendersonville.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Joyce Frizzell Pressley, and two sons Dennis (Christine) of
Huntersville and Brian (Amanda) of Hickory. He has one granddaughter, Jordyn, of Huntersville. He is also survived by one brother, C. Donald Pressley of Hendersonville.
Dennis graduated from Brevard High School and was employed by Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation in the IT department. He completed his law enforcement training at UNC prior to joining the NC State Highway Patrol where he served as Master Trooper for Caldwell and Watauga counties for over 18 years.
A lover of all sports, Dennis participated in baseball, softball, football, bowling and golf. He enjoyed working with and coaching children in football and Little League.
Dennis and Joyce enjoyed traveling with friends to many states and countries. They especially liked visiting national parks and observing the beauty of God's natural creations.
He was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Hudson for over 50 years. He was also retired from Sawmills Volunteer Fire Department and was a charter member of Sawmills Optimist Club serving as the club's first president.
Dennis loved his Lord and Savior and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and a friend to many. He was always ready to help anyone in need and enjoyed giving more than receiving.
He loved his family and will be greatly missed, He was the "rock" for his wife, sons, daughters in law, and granddaughter. He was more of a brother figure to his two brothers in law and their families.
There will be a celebration of life at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Sunday, October 20, 2024 with a receiving of friends from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. with the funeral following at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Robert Livingston and Rev. Zack Kennedy officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1787 Cajah Mountain Rd, Hudson, NC 28638.
