Robert "Sid" Sidney Thomas, age 66, of Morganton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Hickory Village Memory Care. He was born on November 8, 1954 in Buncombe County to the late Henry and Lillian Thomas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jason "JT" Thomas.

Sidney was a great husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved his Double C Acres family where he was known as a cherished and true horseman. Sid loved and cared for his horses and his customer's horses like none-other. Sid won many World titles showing horses and was a member of the American Paint Horse Association Professional Horsemen. He loved his family and always wanted the absolute best for every member of his family. Sidney was a great, Christian man and loved his Lord and Savior and loved sharing what Jesus is all about and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Karen Cassata Thomas of the home; one daughter, Carlee Joy Price and husband Andrew of Morganton; one sister, Phyllis Cole and husband Jimmy of Fairview; two nephews, Tracey Cole and wife Kim of Fairview and John Cole and wife Christina of Lenoir; and his father and mother in law Bob and Joyce Cassata of West Palm Beach. Sidney will be greatly missed by many other friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Hartland Baptist Church at 4:00 P.M. conducted by Reverend Douglas Price and Reverend Harvey Gates.

Due to COVID-19 social distancing and face masks are required to be in attendance.
