Roger Lum Poarch, age 69, of Lenoir passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. He was born November 16, 1955 in Caldwell County to the late Conard Poarch and Esther Haas Poarch. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Poarch Suddreth; and his father-in-law, Gonnie James Greer.

He was a loving husband, father, Paw Paw, brother, mentor, and friend to everyone he met. Throughout his life, he was known for his youthful spirit, servant heart, boundless energy, and the stories he told us all.  He was an outdoor enthusiast who loved to spend his time on the move. He also looked forward to his weekly standing golf game with fellow brothers in Christ.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Sandra Greer Poarch; two daughters, Heather Ferretti (Franklin) and Addison Poarch; eight siblings, Ernest Poarch, Sharon Arrowood, Diane Cornett, Kenneth Poarch (Brenda), Linda Hartley (Joe), Don Poarch (Cyndi), Jeffery Poarch (Debbie), and Grace Poarch; four grandchildren, Ebie Poarch, Emma Clark, Rosie Clark, and Cooper Ferretti; mother-in-law, Joy L. Greer; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Livingston, Rev. Jason Hines, and Kenny Poarch officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the church.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be The Golf Group.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1787 Cajah Mountain Rd, Hudson, NC 28638.
