Ruby Gail Hartley Beard, age 76, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at her residence. She was born February 26, 1947 in Caldwell County to the late Phillip C. Hartley and Emma Mae Bolick Hartley. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ransom Beard; and one brother, James Hartley.

Those left to cherish her memory include her companion of many years, James Patrick, of the home; three sons, John Beard and wife Lana of Granite Falls, Michael Beard and wife Vickie of Lenoir, and Ransom Beard, Jr. and fiancée Annette of Lenoir; one daughter, Anita Hatcher and husband Douglas of Lenoir; four sisters, Betty Lovins, Louise Robbins, Edith Smith, and Shirley Davis, all of Lenoir; one sister-in-law, Mae Hartley of Lenoir; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
